“ Fortune House is the new spot! I have been ordering from Sake for years and was in need of a change. Not only because I think the food has gotten worse but Sakes food never tasted fresh. It was just close to my home. but something odd happened to me the last time I was picking up take out. I was (surprisingly)early for my pickup (10 Mit) and had been asked to wait a couple mits while they finished my order. My vehicle was still cold and didn't want to wait while sitting on cold leather seats so I decided to drive around back with my head lights on (Planning only to do a big slow circle to get the engine warmed/ heated seats and let them prepare my pickup) this is when the situation happened. As I turn back down under the lower libel of Sake, I see an older oriental man with what looked like a 4 x 4' transparent/ white mosquito cloth in both hands help of his head but looked like he was hiding behind a landscape plant as if he was going to scare someone considering it was around holloween. Except as I passed by slowly, another person with a second similar cloth came barreling through the lower basement/ kitchen door of Sake. He was chasing 3-5 small animals that looked Like We're inside the building with him before he had opened the door. In the moment I thought as I drove by slowly that maybe these were a small family of raccoons or possums. Maybe trying to eradicate them from the restaurant. In the moment I thought I must be lucky guy gets to watch one of my favourite restaurants perform vromit control as I wait from my favorite meal LOL . and I just was lucky enough to stand there team effort . I stopped the car and shined my work light over on the ground to see if they needed help in the dark. These were not raccoons, it was 3 medium/ adult size cats and 2 smaller (kitten) size cats in front that were starting to get away. Before I could comprehend what I was actually looking at, the older man who I almost forgot about being there, lunged and threw the net on top of the 3 cats that had fallen behind the chase. The "net" or fabric, had small fishing weights connected at each corner. Between there teamwork and the aim/ unique fabric netting, I could tell this was not the first time these individuals had netted a couple cats. It trapped the 3 larger felines as the younger ones shot across the parking lot over by the dumpster. The speed at which this older oriental man moved was unbelievable. He ran to the dumpster in front of my headlights and car on foot and I watched him perform some Sort of back hand spring/ kart wheel monouver that cornered the little ones to where he just grabbed them by hand. I i shined my work light at the man because I frankly did not know if I had been watching too many sci fi films recently or if I had really witnessed what I just saw. Of course the one time I pick up Chinese food dinner without my daughter/ wife/ or son. I immediately realised I had seen this older man before once I had my LED work light on him. He was the older man that was always sitting on a chair in the back kitchen inside the restaurant. I would see this man only when I was inside paying for our dinner and as other employees would enter or exit the kitchen. This is because the door would extend enough during these times where I would get a glimpse of him. He always in the same spot, same chair, same clothes, same smile and often wave... It always seemed like they all new me when I would go in to pick up my order so when I'd get the glimpse of him with that awkward smile and wave, I never really took it as concerning... why would I until now? It's been almost a month now since I witnessed this. I wanted to write (my first review ever) on the Sake Review page but I was hesitant knowing this man prob had residence address on file. After watching him move across the parking lot last month and underestimating him or anyone that looks that old, I Couldn't put my family at risk of retaliation. If it were just me and I lived alone, I wouldn't care and would have gotten this message out there quicker. This is going to make most people laugh or probably think I'm crazy and making things up but I have never left a comment on anything in my life. This is the first bit of feedback I've ever felt the need to share or give anyone/ any business/ and service I've paid for, good or bad. I am a resident of Southbury CT and I feel it's my due diligence to let my neighbours and fellow residence of Southbury know my experience of what happen that night. I don't want to keep Driving around and read all of the new "Lost Cat" posters knowing what I witnessed and not saying anything. I am not going to jump to conclusions or make one Single reference on what I think happened next after I drove away that night. Thank you Fortune House For giving me a a place to order my Chinese food. ”
“ Decent takeout Chinese in the area. I grew up on takeout in NY - so it's a little different here but still good. Had the sesame chicken and wonton soup, both solid dishes. Also tried the Thai fried rice for something new, it had a little kick to it - but we enjoyed it. ”
“ I love this place for a quick take out meal for a busier night! Their food is amazing and so flavorful and cooked fresh to order. It is family owned and operated and there is always the same women working the front register every time I go in. I wish I knew her name because she is the politest women! Their menu has plenty of different options to choose from but my go to is the dinner special with pork fried rice and chicken lo mein! It comes with an egg roll as well. Their portions are generous so I have enough for lunch the next day - tastes just as fresh and delicious! Definently recommend. ”
“ We've always said that you should never mess with your Chinese order. Find a place you like, find the dishes you like. Order them every time and you'll never be disappointed. Deviate on the location or order and your bound for problems. So for us we were a bit skeptical going into things. I easily ordered over the phone on a Friday night and was told 30 minutes. This was much shorter than expected but I figured maybe they weren't that busy since they were new and arrived exactly in 30 minutes. The restaurant was bright, clean and spacious, but almost a little too large and sparsely decorated. No big deal as they are brand new and eventually will settle in. There were a few people in the restaurant waiting but I was able to go right to the counter and pay, but told that my food wasn't ready yet so I sat in one of the booths and waited. Unfortunately I ended up waiting about 35 minutes (so over an hour total). As I waited a number of other people came in, waited and got their food. I get it they are still getting used to things and have no problem waiting an hour on a Friday night, just wish they'd told me it would take 45 min to an hour. Got the food home and was excited to unpack it all. We got three dinner combination platters (including egg rolls), all solid. The crab rangoons were much better than our normal place, the fried pork dumplings not as good. We liked that they had the Thai options so hot chicken pad thai instead of our usual lo mein which was a nice change of pace. Everything had a very light taste to it - not heavy or greasy at all which was awesome. Overall I can't say we won't ever go to our normal place, but I could definitely see us needing to have a discussion as to where to order from in the future. Good luck Fortune House! ”
